Lawrence R. "Larry" Sipley

Lawrence R. “Larry” Sipley, Sr., 83, of Woodward, passed from this life at his home on Thursday, April 18, 2019.  Born on December 3, 1935 in Newton, New Jersey, Larry was a son of the late J. Atwood Sipley and Ethel (Bell) Sipley.  On June 28, 1957 he married Joyce E VanScoten, who survives at their home. 

Larry was first employed with his father in Warren County, NJ for over 40 years where they farmed together.  He then worked for Mobil Oil in the plastics division for 10 years, and, then Lipton tea for 10 years.  In Feb 1992, Larry and his wife purchased a former amish farm in Woodward and in 1997 they finally moved in.  Larry had a farmer’s heart, and enjoyed the outdoors and farming.

In addition to his wife Joyce, Larry is survived by one daughter, Trixie L. Sipley-Haebler of State College, and, one son, Lawrence R. “Ralph” Sipley, Jr. of Aaronsburg; three grandchildren, Winona Lefsyk (Jason) of Bangor, Dana Nemeth (Joe) of Glenfield, NY and Autumn Kauffman of Roseto.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Gage, Troy, Kendall and Skyla. 

In accordance with Larry’s wishes, there will be no public services.  Contributions in his memory may be given to the American Heart Association, Penns Valley EMS or the Millheim Fire Company.
