Lee E. Wingard, of Aaronsburg, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born February 15, 1937, in Aaronsburg, Lee was a son of the late Wilbur L. and Esther E. (Bright) Wingard. He was a 1955 graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School. On December 8, 1956, Lee married the love of his life, Donna Rockey, who survives at home.
He is also survived by his daughter, Colleen Wingard Swetland of Centre Hall; four grandsons, Nicholas Flickinger, Lucas Flickinger (Amanda), Aaron Swetland, Coleton Harter (Haley) and four great granddaughters, Kenley, Leah and Camdyn Flickinger and Landyn Harter. Also surviving is one brother, Ardell W. Wingard (Jean) of Aaronsburg and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Bambi Kauffman (Arlan); his great granddaughter, Joclyn Flickinger; one sister, Carol Kester and his youngest brother James Wingard (Wanetta).
Lee served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed at Penn State University in the Office of Physical Plant, retiring with 32 years of service. Lee was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim where he had previously served on the Church Council and the Property Committee and as an usher. He was also a member of the Millheim Lions Club and the High-Top Gun Club.
For thirty years he and Donna had spent the winter in Hernando, FL where he enjoyed the warm weather and fishing for large mouth bass from his boat. He enjoyed going to the family cabin in Ingleby along Penns Creek which has been in the Wingard family for nearly 100 years.
Lee served the community as a former member of the Haines-Aaronsburg Municipal-Water and the Millheim Cable Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking, having made much of the furniture in he and Donna’s home. In his later years he enjoyed reading a good book, especially mysteries and military mysteries.
Lee was known among his friends as a “MacGyver” type fellow as he could usually fix anything with almost no tools.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millheim. The Celebration of Life for Lee will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Becky Horn officiating.
