Lois M. Poorman, of Aaronsburg, passed from this life on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg. She was 86. Born April 16, 1935 in Aaronsburg, Lois was a daughter of the late Henry I. and A. Tevola “Keller” Stover. Lois was a member of the first graduating class at the Penns Valley High School in 1953. On September 17, 1955 she married John I. Poorman who preceded her in death on November 20, 2009.
Lois was employed as a seamstress at the former Valley Manufacturing in Millheim, retiring from there with 30 + years of service. She was also part time secretary for Poorman’s Welding in Aaronsburg. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg where she sang in the choir and participated in many church activities. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, word search, gardening and of course sewing. She made many of her children’s clothing when they were small. Lois most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Teresa A. Homan and Karen E. Stover (Curt) both of Aaronsburg; two sons, David J. Poorman (Tammy) and Roger L. Poorman (Brenda) also both of Aaronsburg; seven grandchildren, Jamie Bolick (Aaron), Jason Homan (Kylie), Jacob Homan (Brittany), Lyle Stover, Lucas Stover (Cheaney), David “Deej” Poorman II, and Alyssa Poorman (Preston). Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Hunter, Haidyn, Easton, Reagan, Baylor, Cameron, Karenza and Declynn. Lois is the last of her family having been preceded by siblings, Victor Neese, Pearl Bowersox, Olivia Hosterman, Rosella Boone and infant brother Carl Stover.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg. The funeral will follow immediately with Pastor Curt Wingert officiating. Lois will be laid to rest in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery beside the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lois may be given to the Hope Fund of Penns Valley, POB 427, Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to Salem Lutheran Church, c/o Karen Stover, POB 700, Aaronsburg PA 16820.
