Luther William Musser

Luther William Musser, of State College, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.  He was 76.  Born December 15, 1948, in Bellefonte, Luther was a son of the late Elwood and Betty “Bollinger” Musser.  He was a 1968 graduate of Penns Valley High School.  On August 8, 1970, he married Diane L. Miller who survives at their home.

Luther was employed in the Tool Room of the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State University.  He took great pride in his position, making sure that whoever signed out the equipment always brought it back.  He retired in 2006 after 25 years of service.  Luther was a member of the Pleasant Gap Lions Club, the Millheim Fire Company, the Bellefonte Moose Lodge #206, the Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094, and the Teamsters Union.  Luther enjoyed playing solitaire and watching TV. 

In addition to his wife of 54 years; Diane, Luther is survived by one daughter, Angel Musser; one nephew, Greg Kephart who Luther and Diane raised as a son; one brother, James Musser of Orlando, FL and three sisters Judy Hetrick of Lock Haven, and Carrie Lewis and Mary Fogleman both of Linglestown.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Dylan and Kylee Wierbowski.  In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Musser and two sisters, Doris Eckenroth and Annie Bollinger. 

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 6-8 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 am.  Luther will be laid to rest in the Houserville Cemetery.  Contributions in Luther’s memory may be given to the American Cancer Society.
