Mary Jane Brungart, formerly of Smullton, passed away on September 12, 2024, at Wynwood House in State College. She was 88. Born September 4, 1936, in Freeburg, Mary Jane was a daughter of the late Palmer and Helen “Woolsey” Gross. She was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School. On April 15, 1955, Mary Jane married Marcellus Brungart who preceded her in death on August 3, 2018.
Mary Jane is survived by three daughters, Rose M. Campbell of Bellefonte, Reita M. Rockey of Spring Mills and Rhonda M. Brungart of State College; three sons, Russell M. Brungart (Stephanie) of Lewistown, Rodney M. Brungart of Centre Hall and Randall M. Brungart (Patti) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary Jane was preceded in death by four brothers, Franklin, Russell, Robert, and James Gross and two sisters, Nancy Lamey and Shirley Day.
Mary Jane had attended the Rebersburg God’s Missionary Church. She enjoyed baking quilting, going to yard sales and sewing. Most of all. Mary Jane enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In accordance with Mary Jane’s wishes, all services are private. She will be laid to rest in Evangelical Cemetery in Rebersburg. A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date.
