Surrounded by her family, Miriam K. Tice, of Spring Mills, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at her home. She was 81. Born March 20, 1943, in Spring Mills, Miriam was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Lena V. “Herlocher” Rider. She was married to Melvin Tice who preceded her in death.
Miriam is survived by one daughter, Lori A. Shughart (Nevin) of Dillsburg; one son, Donald E. Tice, Sr. of Spring Mills; two siblings, Betty J. Bailey (Roger) of Centre Hall and David R. Rider (Reanie) of Spring Mills, and three grandchildren, Donald E. Tice, Jr. (Stephanie), Christal D. Simons and Matthew S. Shughart. Also surviving are five great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Miriam was preceded in death by five daughters, Kathy L. Slyder, Betty A. Tice, Nancy J. Tice, Wanda M. Tice and Debra K. Tice; one daughter in law, Hulda Tice; one son in law, Ralph Slyder; siblings, Jenny T. Wolfe, Robert W. Rider and Marie Port and two brothers in law, Franklin Wolfe, and William B. Port.
Miriam attended the Green Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Spring Mills. She had been employed at the former Corning Asahi, retiring from there with 28 years of service. She enjoyed quilting and putting puzzles together with her husband and neighbors. Miriam especially loved spending time with her family.
