Nancy Lynn Allan Royer, of Spring Mills, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was 63. Born in Bellefonte on July 15, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Shirley “Smith” Allan. Nancy joined Douglas M. Royer in marriage which carried on lovingly for more than 20 years.
Nancy was a 1977 graduate of State College Area High School and a 1981 graduate of Penn State University. She had been employed at Heritage Realty and then at S&A Homes as a land development property manager. Nancy was passionate about figure skating and became an instructor at Penn State. During her time instructing young skaters, Nancy helped instill joy for the sport and helped the young skaters become artists on ice. For Nancy, skating was the vessel into which she could pour her heart and soul (Peggy Fleming).
Nancy cared deeply about animals. She rescued over 15 horses in a twenty-year span, horses whose quality of life was already compromised. She attended to their health, happiness, comfort, and wellbeing to the end of their natural lives. Also, the many fur babies and birds she leaves behind will greatly miss her.
Our family gatherings will never be the same without Nancy’s wit and amazing pecan pies!
In addition to her husband Doug, Nancy is survived by two stepsons, Nathan Royer of Centre Hall and Jermaine Royer of Seattle, WA: one brother, Mark Allan of NJ: and one granddaughter, Chloe. To honor Nancy’s wishes, there are no services.
