Nancy (Lewis) Strother, 97, formerly of Aaronsburg, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center on August 13, 2025. Born on January 19,1928, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Sarah E "Alloway" Lewis.
After graduating from high school, Nancy attended George Washington University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. On August 26,1950, she was married to G.K. Strother who preceded her in death in 2018.
Nancy was a passionate artist who enjoyed painting landscapes and portraits. She enjoyed listening to opera and was an avid reader. A member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Nancy was closely involved in the annual book sale held at the Penn State Ag Arena.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Lesley Strother (Gary Shon) of Spring Mills; two sons, John Strother of State College, and Paul Strother (Cecilia Lenk) of Watertown, MA; three grandchildren, Aldus Strother (Rachel), Grace Strother (Anthony Bruns), and Kip Strother. Also surviving is one great grandchild, Alice Burns. In addition to her parents and husband Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Wendy Daugherty.
In accordance with Nancy's wishes there will be no services. She will be laid to rest at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Aaronsburg at a later date.
