Nathen Kerstetter Obituary

Nathen Russell Kerstetter of Milesburg, passed away January 17, 2024, at the age of 38. He was born on August 16, 1985, in State College. He is the son of Fred Kerstetter (Brenda Brooks) of Spring Mills and Kelly Jo Kerstetter (Onix Sanchez) of Milesburg. He was a 2004 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. His passion and dedication for basketball led him to a special selection for a camp in England representing Penns Valley.

Nathen was employed as a sanitation worker for Newman-Hill. He was a member of the Milesburg American Legion Post #893 and the Bellefonte VFW post #1600. Nathen held many hobbies such as bowling, darts, pool, corn hole, and participating in a local Milesburg softball team. Yet, his true happy place was by the water as an avid fisherman. His competitiveness shined through when the Atlanta Falcons, “dirty birds,” took the field. No matter the wins or losses, this team always had Nathen as a number one fan. His risky side was often seen on the 4th of July, providing his family a firework show to be remembered. Nathen will be remembered by many things, but his tight bear hugs, infectious laugh, and contagious smile were things the family and friends will never forget.

In addition to his parents, Nathen is survived by his son, Jonathan Kerstetter, his sister, Audrey Kerstetter, and his maternal grandparents, Candy Ream (Ronald) and Richard Garbrick (Kim). Along with them are numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nathen was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Esther Kerstetter, his cousin, Chase Kerstetter, “the old putz,” and his beloved black lab, Wiggz.

At this time, the family is holding a private service with a celebration of life to be scheduled at the family’s convenience. To honor Nathen, root for the Falcons (next year), take a fishing trip, enjoy the belly laughs, and hug the ones you love tightly.
