Surrounded by his loving family, R. Gerald Bair of Rebersburg, passed away December 6, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was 90. Born July 18, 1932, in Smullton, Gerald was a son of the late Raymond C. and Anna M. (Dutrow) Bair. He graduated from Miles Township High School in 1951. On March 20, 1953, he married Vera L. Moyer who survives.
Gerald was a dairy farmer from the time he graduated from high school until 1977. While Gerald was in school, he helped his father deliver milk from Bair's Dairy. He was employed at Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven until the Lock Haven plant closed. He then worked at Penn State in the maintenance and agronomy departments. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Gerald was an active member of the church council and was a "jack-of-all-trades" maintenance man.
Gerald was a member of the Millheim Lions club. He enjoyed traveling, especially to farms in Europe. Gerald and his family enjoyed Grange Fair every summer and attending the Nittany Antique Machinery Show, where Gerald exhibited his antique Farmall tractor that he had restored.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Vera; children Rick Bair (Pamela), Connie Price (Dennis), and Gene Bair (Judy); grandchildren Jennifer Bair-Cicoria (Jason), Eric Weaver, Jesse Weaver (Adrian), Madison Bair, Nicholas Bair and Allyson Tingle. Also surviving are great grandchildren Teagan, Rileigh, Preston and Colton Weaver. Gerald was preceded in death by siblings, Miriam Corman, Marvin Bair, Robert Bair and Richard Bair.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rebersburg. The Celebration of Life service will follow with Pastor Julie Holm officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gerald may be given to Millheim Lions Club, c/o Paula Smith, 117 Orpha Lane, Spring Mills, PA 16875 or to Miles Township Fire Co., POB 155, Rebersburg, PA 16852.
