Robert Bierly Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Dean Bierly, 92, of Rebersburg, PA passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Salem Hill Haven, Spring Mills, PA.

Born in Rebersburg, PA on July 14, 1931, he was the middle child of 14 children to Robert W. and Madeline (Cable) Bierly.

Bobby was a 1949 graduate of Miles Township High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1952.  After receiving basic training in preparation for battle in the Korean War, peace talks and agreements were met, so he then served as a cook at Camp Gordon, Georgia until 1954.  Afterwards, he worked as a cattle truck driver, farmer (milked cows, raised beef cattle, baled and sold hay) and became a butcher. His last employment was at Penn State where he retired after 17 years as a custodian.

He enjoyed league bowling, hunting, fly fishing, attending public auctions, and especially spending time with family and friends. He attended and was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Nancy (Eichman) Bierly, of 66 years. It was love at first sight after they met at Dot & Bill’s restaurant in Aaronsburg. They were married on May 4, 1957, at Erdley’s Church in Middleburg, PA. They spent their life on their Rebersburg farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jonathan (Cindy); two grandchildren, Alicia Boyer (Brandon) and Mark (Trinity Witmer, Fiancée); two great grandchildren, Addison and Autumn Boyer; one brother, Sam (Nancy); four sisters, Susan Benner, Donna Bowersox (Harold), Nancy Foust (Charles), and Jane Rudy (Harold); one sister-in-law, Barbara Eisenberg; one brother-in-law, John Eichman; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by one son, Robert M. Bierly; three brothers, Donald, Clarence, and Harold “Chas”; and five sisters, Annabelle, Margaret Bird, Hazel Zerby, Sandra McGovern, and Katherine Meyer.
