Robert L. “Bob” Stover, of Aaronsburg, passed away at his home on January 14, 2024. He was 89. Born June 3, 1934, in Spring Mills, Bob was a son of the late Park A. and Lucille K. “Fiedler” Stover. He was a 1952 graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School. On March 29, 1953, he married Dora Mae Vonada who survives.
Bob was raised on the family farm and enjoyed farming. He hauled canned milk for the Dairy League and worked at the former Square Deal Garage in his younger days. He retired from the former Cerro Copper and Brass with 34 years of service as a hydraulic repairman.
Bob served his community as a former Haines Township Supervisor, board member of the Millheim TV Cable Company, board member of the Titan Federal Credit Union, Millheim Lions Club member, Millheim Fire Company member, member of the Aaronsburg Civic Club, a member of the Aaronsburg Joint Cemetery Association and a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served many years on the Building Committee. In his spare time Bob enjoyed hunting- he was a founding member of the Kreamer Gap hunting camp, repairing and refurbishing tractors, gardening and canning the fruits of his labors. Most of all Bob enjoyed time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three sons, Carey R. Stover of Aaronsburg, Curtis W. Stover (Karen) also of Aaronsburg and Corby L. Stover (Melissa) of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Mathew Stover (Bethany) of Aaronsburg, Suzanne Ward (Jake) of Lewistown, Lyle Stover of Aaronsburg, Lucas Stover (Cheaney) also of Aaronsburg, Andrew Stover (Maggie) of Baltimore, MD and Rebecca Ford (Joe) of Birmingham, AL. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Reese Stover, Alaina Ward, Samuel Ward, Cameron Stover, Karenza Stover, and Parker Ford and one sister Susan A. Foster. Bob was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Libby A. Stover and siblings, Doris Winters, Dean Stover and Myra Buck.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Becky Horn and Pastor Richard Virgil officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
