Robert R. Long

Robert R. “Bob” Long, of Centre Hall, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Wynwood House in Centre Hall.  He was 83.  Born November 4, 1942, in Bellefonte, Bob was a son of the late Randolph P. and Freda M. (Horner) Long.  He was a 1960 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.  On April 16, 1966, he married M. Joanne Sharer who preceded him in death. 

Bob began his career as a homebuilder with his father’s company, RP Long & Son Construction, which later became Robert Long Construction when his father retired.  He built many homes in the Centre Hall area.  He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Centre Hall, State College Elks Lodge 1600, and a lifetime member of the Centre Hall Fire Company where he had served as fire chief at one time.  For many years Bob was the caretaker of the Reformed Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.  In his spare time, Bob enjoyed shopping, building furniture for his family, watching NASCAR with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver and tenting at Grange Fair.  He was also an usher at Penn State Football games. 

Bob is survived by one daughter, Michele Brown (Terry) of Pleasant Gap; one son, Brian Long (Kathy) of Centre Hall; one sister, R. Marie Corman; and five grandchildren, Forrest Rishel (Nichole), Ian Brown, Andrew Long (Natalie), Ryan Long and Dayna Brown.  Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Cohen and Mylah Rishel.

Family and friends will be received from 5:00-7:00 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Centre Hall on Monday, November 10, 2025.  The Celebration of Life service for Bob will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Becky Horn officiating.  Bob will be laid to rest in the Reformed Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be given to the Reformed Lutheran Cemetery association.
