Surrounded by his loving family, Roger G. Myers, of Spring Mills, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 26, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68. Born in Bellefonte, Roger was a son of the late Robert E. and Gladys H. “Grove” Myers of Spring Mills who survives. He was a 1971 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. On May 15, 1977, he married Karen E. Homan who survives at their home.
Roger was one of twin sons born to his parents on March 29, 1953. His twin brother, Rodney Myers, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an older brother, Barry Myers, (Leona) also of Spring Mills. Roger was part owner/operator of the former Myers Brothers Meat Market in Spring Mills and clerked many years at Belleville Livestock Auction. He loved being outdoors doing farm work and raising beef cattle. He was a member of the former St. Marks Lutheran Church in Spring Mills, the Gregg Township Fire Company, the Spring Mills Fish & Game, the NRA and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Roger was a huge wrestling fan. Wrestling blood runs in the Myers family. He and his brother, his son and now his grandchildren were, or are all wrestlers. Above all else, Roger loved to spend time with his family and friends spreading his love with teasing and his humor.
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by two daughters, Natalie J. Fetterolf (Corby) of Rebersburg and Erica D. Chappell (Dan) of Mill Hall; one son, Robert E. Myers (Briany) of Spring Mills, and two brothers, R. Dennis Myers (Ruth Ann) of Centre Hall and Jeffrey Myers (Cathy) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are grandchildren, Micah, Noah, Ethan, Sawyer, Elias, Linden & Laurel Fetterolf and Conner and Cayden Myers.
A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held at the family farm on July 10, 2021 at 5:00 pm. Contributions in memory of Roger may be given to the Hope Fund of Penns Valley, Po Box 427, Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to the Penns Valley Wrestling Club, Po Box 357, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
