Ronald Dobson Obituary

Ronald L. “RD” Dobson, of Spring Mills, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 18, 2023, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.  He was 72.  Born September 26, 1950 in Bellefonte, Ronald was a son of the late Lee and Elsie (Hendershot) Dobson.  On February 2, 1974 he married the former Phyllis Packer who preceded him in death.  On October 9, 2010, he married Kathy (Laird) Dobson, who survives at their home.

Ronald attended Penns Valley High School.  He served our country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was employed at HRI Inc as a truck driver, retiring in 2013.  He was of the Lutheran faith.  Ronald loved hunting, fishing, feeding all outdoor animals and birds, especially hand feeding hummingbirds.  He enjoyed people watching at Grange Fair, watching Nascar and Philadelphia Eagle football.  Most of all he cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by one daughter, Rhonda L. Walker (Bradley) of Spring Mills: one stepson, Todd E. Dobson (Tammy) of Petersburg: four grandchildren, Chelsey Breon (Josh), Melody Moyer (Jake), Destiny Shively (Luke) and R-Jay Dobson.  Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Eastenn, Leeland, Avery, Julian and Hunter and four sisters, Shirley Kline of Boalsburg, Nancy Broadwater of Cochranville, Linda Leedy of Milesburg and Beverly Rockey of Bellefonte.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Ilgen and Rose Englert and two brothers, Willis Dobson and Robert Dobson.

Ronald was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by many who knew him.

In accordance with Ronald’s wishes there will be no public services.  There may be a Celebration of Life service at a later date and will be announced if that is decided.  Contributions in memory of Ronald may be given to Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, POB 437, Millheim PA 16854.
