Ronald L. Fetzer, of Woodward, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was 88. Born September 15, 1936, in Lewisburg, Ron was a son of the late Ward and Mabel “Minnig” Fetzer. He was a 1954 graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School. He attended Penn State University where he attained a master’s degree in business. On April 8, 1961, he married Arlene L. Huey who survives.
Ron was the former owner of the Ronald Fetzer insurance agency in Millheim. He had also worked as a business administrator at the former Philipsburg Hospital. Ron served our country in the 112th Unit of the National Guard during the Berlin crisis.
Ronald and Arlene were blessed with two sons, David Fetzer of Rebersburg and Timothy Fetzer (Jennifer) of Woodward. He was grandpa to six grandchildren, David Fetzer, Jr, (Grace), Dustin Fetzer, Kurtis Fetzer, Rebecca Zeirlien (Lance), Grace Bussard and Dane Bussard. Also surviving is a brother, Clair Fetzer (Nita) of MN, two precious great granddaughters, Willow and Brooke and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his other brother, Melvin Fetzer.
Ronald was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Woodward where he was very active in church functions. He was also an Elder and a Sunday School teacher in the church. He was a member of the Woodward POS of A and an avid gardener, always having an abundant bounty to harvest.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Woodward, on Saturday, January 18, 2025. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with pastor Theresa Heiser officiating. Ron will be laid to rest in Woodward Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Ronald may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
