Ronald E. “Bill” Leedy, formerly of Woodward, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the home of his daughter Debora with whom he had been staying. He was 84. Born April 2, 1938 in Bellefonte, Bill was a son of the late William H. and Bernice “Zettle” Leedy. He was a 1956 graduate of the former Gregg Township Vocational High School. On June 9, 1956 he married Thelma Y. Starr who preceded him in death April 14, 2017.
Bill was employed as a mechanic for HRI Inc. with 20 years of service. He was pretty much handy at anything, often helping family and friends repair and paint various objects. He was a member and former Chief of the Millheim Fire Company. He also assisted the fire police and ran with the local ambulance club when it was all volunteer. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing baseball.
Bill is survived by one daughter, Debora Leedy-Burns (Tom) of Spring Mills; one son, Rodney J. Leedy (Sandy) of Potters Mills; and siblings Leilani Leedy and Earl Leedy (Peg). Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jamie (Nicole), Melissa and Samantha; seven great grandchildren, Taysha, Dustin, Abby, Karri, Dakota, Cassie and Mia and one great great grandson, Damien. Bill was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Edgar, Anthony and James Leedy and Michael Johnson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 until noon Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Michael Covalt officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Woodward Cemetery.
