Rosaline Haney Obituary

Rosaline E. “Posie” Haney, formerly of Pleasant Gap, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Juniper Village in State College.  She was 100.  Born February 16, 1924, in Aaronsburg, Posie was a daughter of the late John and Florence “Mensch” Bower.  She was a graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School.  She went on to attend the former Williamsport Area Community college for a short time.  On May 24, 1945, she married Kenneth D. Haney who preceded her in death on January 16, 1991.

Posie was employed in the admission office at Penn State University, retiring in 1986.  Because of Ken’s employment with Penn State, Posie accompanied him to many sporting events across the campus.  She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in State College.  In her earlier years, Posie and Ken played the piano and organ for different group functions.  She sewed many of her own clothing and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Posie is survived by one son, Keith D. Haney of Lancaster: five grandsons, Ryan Haney, Kyle Haney, Brett Haney, Craig Haney and Mark Haney.  Also surviving are three great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband Ken, Posie was preceded in death by a son, Kim D. Haney and siblings, Alden Bower and Roena “Bower” Walker.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner Street in State College.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Pastors Scott Schul and Carolyn Hetrick officiating.  Posie will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Contributions in her memory may be given to Grace Lutheran Church.
