Samuel O. Butler

Samuel O. “Sam” Butler, of Howard, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  He was 72.  Born December 8, 1952, in Bellefonte, Sam was the son of the late Samuel O. and Dorothy K. (Barner) Butler. 

Sam was a graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and worked as a construction laborer for many years.  In his free time Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, his cats and dogs and spending quality time with his nieces and nephews. 

Sam is survived by his son Eric Butler of Spring Mills: one granddaughter, Danealle, and three great grandchildren.  Also surviving are six siblings, Gary Butler of Woodward, Sandra Butler of Milesburg, Ronald Butler of Tyrone, Linda Crawford of Spring Mills, Mary Caldwell of Pleasant Gap and Terry Butler of Howard.  Sam was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Albright and Susan Pletcher: two brothers, Larry and Richard Butler, and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Butler.
