Scott Allan McGinnis, of Milesburg, passed away at his home on March 2, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 67. Born November 29, 1957, in Altoona, Scott was a son of the late Allan Cloyd and Thelma Grace “Brubaker” McGinnis. He was a 1975 graduate of Penns Valley High School where he participated on the football and wrestling teams. Scott was married to Kim Dong Suk who he called “Margaret”. She preceded him in death 2000.
Scott served our country in the U.S. Air Force during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf with eighteen years of service. After returning home, Scott was employed as a forklift operator at the Frito Lay factory in Georgia from 1992 until he retired in 2010. He enjoyed hunting at the family camp and was an avid movie watcher.
Scott is survived one daughter, Kathy Matthews (Walter) of Byron, GA; five siblings, Lee Ann Ernst (Dan) of O’Fallon, IL, Michael McGinnis (Donna) of Howard, Nancy Reffner (Jerry) of Altoona, Jerry McGinnis (Mary Jane) of Clearfield and Norma McGinnis of Pleasant Gap. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mela and Azael. In addition to his wife, Scott was preceded in death by his grandson, Devon.
Family and friends will be received from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastor Teresa Hockenberry officiating. Scott will be laid to rest in Fairview West cemetery with military honors. Contributions in memory of Scott may be given to Veterans Assistance Fund, POB 546, Centre Hall PA 16828.
