Selena M. “Kookie” Lingle, formerly of Woodward and most recently of Milesburg, passed away February 9, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 66. Born July 11, 1959, in Bellefonte, Kookie was a daughter of the late Anthony and Isabel (Ripka) Brindel. She was a 1977 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School.
Kookie was employed as a salesclerk in the retail industry for years. She had attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Woodward during her youth. Kookie was an animal lover with cats being her favorite. She enjoyed feeding and watching the animals around her home, especially the birds. Kookie also enjoyed crosswords and word search puzzles.
Kookie is survived by one daughter, Angela Johnstonbaugh (Brad) of Millheim: two sons, Matthew Lingle (Georgia) of Spring Mills and Kyle Lingle (Victoria) of Pittsburgh: two siblings, Adrian Brindel of Woodward and Sebrena Confer (Wayde) of Mifflinburg and seven grandchildren, Brock, Kaleb, Kenzia, Chassidy, Takoda, Zoey, Christian and Sophia on the way. Also surviving is Kookie’s longtime partner, Donald Hackenberg. In addition to her parents, Kookie was preceded in death by her brother, Artenes “Buppy” Brindel.
In accordance with Kookie’s wishes, there are no services. Contributions in her memory may be given to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
