Surrounded by her loving family and caregivers, Sharon G. Stitzer, of Spring Mills, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at her home after a long struggle with MS. She was 74. Born May 22, 1947 in Lewistown, Sharon was a daughter of the late William S. “Bill” McCool and Orpha L. “Orndorf” McCool. She was a 1965 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School. On February 2, 1968 she married Thomas J. Stitzer who survives.
In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by one daughter, Deah Dashem (Dan) of Millheim; two sons, Brian Stitzer (Sonia) and Todd Stitzer (Michelle) both of Spring Mills; one sister, Joyce Winter; two brothers, Gene McCool and Curtis McCool, along with two grandchildren, Kathryn Stitzer and Dylan Dashem and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald McCool.
Sharon was employed as a secretary at the former Gettig Technologies in Spring Mills, retiring with 46 years of service. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ and the Gregg Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Sharon enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and using her Ipad. The family would like to thank the staff of Grane Hospice for their loving care of Sharon. Their kindness meant a lot to the family.
