Shirley A. Holmes, formerly of Hughesville, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Oaks in Pleasant Gap. She was 87. Born March 28, 1937, in Rebersburg, Shirley was a daughter of the late Paul L. Miller, Sr. and Bertha Jane "Palmer" Miller. She was a graduate of the former Miles Township High School. Shirley was first married to Larry Corson and then she was married to Herbert C. Holmes, both who preceded her in death.
Shirley was employed as a teller at the Commonwealth Bank, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and kept a meticulous and beautiful home. Shirley was a sweet and loving person with a kind soul.
Shirley is survived by one son, Dale C. Corson (Kandy) of Boise, ID; three stepsons, Thomas M. Holmes (Sharon) of Vandergrift, Chris A. Holmes (Suzanne) of Hughesville and Bryan L. Holmes (Beth) of Danville; one brother, Donald E. Miller (Eleanor) of State College, and three sisters, Mildred M. Stine of Rebersburg, Helen L. Hartley of Mechanicsburg and Dorothy R. Rudy (Don) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are three grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Betty M. Glasgow and one brother, Paul L. Miller, Jr.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, 120 W. Main Street in Millheim. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Shirley will be laid to rest in the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery in Rebersburg.
