Stephen L. Barker

Stephen L. Barker, of Madisonburg, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home.  He was 77.  Born November 10, 1945, in Bellefonte, Stephen was a son of the late Franklin and Aileen (Hazel) Barker.  He was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley High School.  Stephen was married to the former Carol M. Zeigler who survives.

In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by one daughter, Crystal Brungard (Frank); two brothers, Wayne Dorman (Bonnie) and Denny Dorman (Kathy); two grandsons, John Brink and James Brink (Lindsay) and one step grandson, Nick Brungard (Amanda).  Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Harper and Quinn along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Stephen was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Dorman; one sister, Lucille Kilpactrick and his grandparents Harold & Bessie Hazel who he lived with through his high school years.

Stephen was employed at Piper Aircraft for 20 years.  He also worked at Gettig Pharmaceutical for 10 years, Yorktown Cabinets for 3 years, Hilex from 2008 until retirement in 2012, and he tended bar at the Millheim Legion and the former Green Door.  He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and traveling out west with Carol.  He also enjoyed fly tying, reloading bullets and building motorized bicycles. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Grace Reformed Church in Troxelville, PA.   The funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Dwight Rine officiating.  Stephen will be laid to rest in the Union Cemetery in Troxelville.  Contributions in memory of Stephen may be given to Grace Reformed Church, 8170 Troxelville Road, Troxelville, PA 17882.
