Theodore F. Grove, Sr.

Theodore F. “Ted” Grove, Sr. of Centre Hall, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Hershey Medical Center.  He was 85.  Born May 9, 1935 in Bellefonte, Ted was a son of the late Harrison H. Grove, Sr. and Amanda R. (Solt) Grove.  On May 31, 1959, Ted married the love of his life, Joan Waltz who survives at their home. 

In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by two daughters, Darlene D. Gill (Robert) of Bellefonte and Violet V. Shaffer of Michigan; two sons, Theodore F. Grove, Jr. (Amy) of Centre Hall and Timothy L. Grove (Samantha) of Spring Mills; nine grandchildren, Robert Gill, Joshua Gill (Vanessa), Nichole Grove, Megan Grove, Colleen Collins (Blaise), Abigail Grove, Heidi Grove, Savannah Grove and Janet Grove; and ten great grandchildren, Luke, Riley, Andrea, Annmarie, Andre, Jaydon, Alex, Owen, Zade and Candice.  Also surviving are siblings, Benjamin Grove (Bonnie) of Centre Hall, Winona B. “Winny” Wills of VA, Wanita J. Askey of Centre Hall and Harrison H. Grove, Jr. (Cindy) of Hollidaysburg.  Ted was preceded in death by one grandson, Franklin Grove and siblings Ellerian Grove, William Grove, Tina L. Grove, and Whitmer Grove. 

Ted was a member of the St. John’s Union Church in Spring Mills, now St. John’s Lutheran.  He was employed as a Mechanic at the College of Agriculture Science (Horticulture) at Penn State University, retiring in 1990 with 37 years of service.  Ted was an avid woodworker.  Ted, along with his sons could make an entire piece of furniture from start to finish as he owned his own small sawmill.  He enjoyed working on cars and was able to fix most anything.  He also owned a part time excavating/construction business.

In accordance with family wishes, all services are private.  There is a memorial service being planned at a later date.  Ted will be laid to rest in Farmers Mills Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ted may be sent to Neff Funeral Home, POB 437, Millheim, PA 16854.
