Evelyn E. (Shook) Hironimus

Surrounded by her loving family, Evelyn E. Hironimus, 89, formerly of Coburn, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 24th at Salem Hill Haven.  Born September 22, 1928 in Spring Mills, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Harry and Jennie “Stover” Shook.  Evelyn was united in marriage to Clarence Kerstetter who preceded her in death in 1966.  She later married Paul (Budd) Hironimus who also preceded her in death in 2004. 

Evelyn was first employed at the former Valley Manufacturing in Millheim, then moved on to Penn State.  Lastly she retired from the Penns Valley High School where she worked in the cafeteria.  She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Coburn.  When she was able, she enjoyed crocheting and reading her bible every day.  Most of all, Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family. 

Surviving are two daughters, Lynnea M. Styers (Robert) and Kathie A. Styers (Barry) both of Coburn; one son, Budd A. Hironimus of Hazelton; and four grandchildren, Robert U. Styers III (Melanie) Jesse Styers (Kim), Nicole Kerstetter and Kelly Kerstetter.  Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Zachary R. and Bailey E. Styers, and a daughter in law, Mary Kerstetter, of New York.  Evelyn was preceded in death by one son, Gary Kerstetter in 1999, one great grandson, Robert U. Styers IV and Donald Hegenstaller, whom Evelyn considered a brother as they were raised together.  The family would like to thank the staff of Salem Hill Haven for the excellent care that Evelyn received while a resident there.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 28th from 11am -12 noon at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon with Pastor Theresa Heiser officiating.  Evelyn will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Evelyn may be given to St. James UMC, Po Box 90, Coburn, PA  16832.
