David R. Pyle

Surrounded by his loving family, David R. Pyle, of Rebersburg passed from this life at his home on Friday, January 14, 2022.  He was 92.  Born August 4, 1929 in Media, PA, David was a son of the late Ronald M. and Hazel V. “Rea” Pyle.  He was a graduate of Media High School.  On June 11, 1953, he married Thelma Hettinger who preceded him in death on December 7, 2015. 

David served our country in the National Guard.  In 1948 he purchased the family farm and took care of it full time during the day, while at the same time working second shift at Piper Aircraft for 15 years.  Later after quitting Piper Aircraft, he worked at logging too.  Church was important to David, he attended the Valley Mennonite Chapel in rural Brush Valley.  He was a member of the Centre County Conservation District, he enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, camping, riding motorcycle, and driving the property lines of the farm on his golf cart to check the crops and progress of the orchards.  Most of all, David enjoyed time spent with family and his canine companion, Scotty.  

David is survived by two daughters, Sharon Myers (Lynn) of Spring Mills and Tammy Brooks (Rick) of Millheim; three sons, David Pyle (Cindy) of Williamsport, Christopher Pyle (Peggy) of Zion and Daniel Pyle (Amy) of Rebersburg; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild who will arrive soon.  In addition to his wife, David was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Peter Pyle; one grandson, Christopher Pyle and three siblings and their wives, Ronald Pyle (Mary), Leland Pyle (Joan) and Virginia Gephart (Kenny).  

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1-2 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kenneth Freed officiating.  David will be laid to rest in the Fairview West Cemetery in Millheim.  Contributions in memory of David may be given to the Valley Mennonite Chapel, c/o Andrew Freed, 250 Smullton Road, Rebersburg, PA 16872.
