Doris E. Leitch, of Spring Mills, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was 85. Born September 7, 1936 in Spring Mills, Doris was a daughter of the late W. Ray and Bessie “McClellan” Smith. Doris was a graduate of the former Gregg Township Vocational School in Spring Mills. On April 2, 1960 in Lock Haven she married William L. “Monk” Leitch who preceded her in death on February 25, 2018.
Doris was employed at the former Salem Hill Haven, now Wynwood-Salem Hill in Spring Mills with 23 years of service. Doris, along with family members ran the Ice Cream Shack twice a year at Penns Cave during the Nittany Antique Machinery Show. She enjoyed attending the Sprint car races at Port Royal Speedway. But most of all Doris enjoyed spending time with her family.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Rosa Sweeley (Rick) and Vicky Miller (Kevin); one son, Edward Leitch (Jill) one brother, Joseph Smith; four grandchildren, Dustin, Nichole (Tyler), Douglas (Courtney) and Alicia (Dillon). Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Kayla, Eleni, Mason and Coleton. Doris was preceded in death by siblings Bernadine Homan, Ann McCool, Gene Smith and Nancy Stover.
Doris will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery during a public graveside service to be held on October 1, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Covalt officiating.
