Geraldine Lydia (Dinges) Hoffman

Geraldine Lydia “Gerri” Hoffman, formerly of Lancaster, passed from this life on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Wynwood House at Salem Hill Haven in Spring Mills.  She was 91.  Born March 3, 1931, in Coburn, Gerri was a daughter of the late Russell D. and Stella C. (Weaver) Dinges.  She was a graduate of the former East Penns Valley High School in Millheim.  After graduation, Gerri attended Lock Haven University where she attained a Bachelor of Science degree.  She then went on to attend Penn State University where she received a Master’s Degree in education.  She was employed for 40 plus years in the Lancaster Public School District as an elementary teacher.

Gerri is survived by two sisters, Nelda Davidson (Lewis) of Palmetto Bay, FL and Connie Martin (Gary) of York along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Gerri was an avid reader, especially of her bible.  She also enjoyed playing bingo and scrabble and especially the piano, which she did at times for the Sunday evening church service at Salem Hill.  Gerri was preceded in death by siblings Max, Ivan, Vivian, Shirley, Betty and infant Dillard.

Gerri will be laid to rest during a graveside service to be held on April 29, 2023, at 11:00 am in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim.  Contributions in memory of Gerri may be given to the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home, POB 437, Millheim, PA 16854.
