Leon Shawver Obituary

Leon B. Shawver, of Aaronsburg, passed from this life on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was 92.  Born October 24, 1928 in Millheim, Leon was a son of the late Oliver B. and Elsie N. “Pressler” Shawver.  On February 8, 1947, Leon married Janet Hosterman.  They were married 67 years until Janet passed away.

Leon was employed for the former Cerro Brass and Metal in Axemann. In addition to a full time job, he and Janet worked a dairy farm for 40 years.  He was a life member of the Milton Moose and loved to go out to eat and camp at Grange Fair.  

Leon is survived by three daughters, Anetta Wertz of Centre Hall, Audrey Rimmey and Irene Shawver Watkins (Ralph) both of Aaronsburg; three grandchildren, Ruby Wertz Ramos (Hugo) of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Kauffman (Will) of Woodward and Leon Rimmey (Kristine) of Summerfield, NC; four great grandchildren, Sarah Wertz Ramos of Las Vegas, NV, Allison Kauffman of Woodward and Jackson and Dylan Rimmey of Summerfield, NC.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  Leon is the last of his generation.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons in law, Steven Wertz and Eugene Rimmey, along with two brothers and one sister.

 In accordance with family wishes we respectfully ask that everyone attending wear a mask. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim, followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm with Pastor Chris Lutz officiating.  Leon will be laid to rest in the Woodward Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Leon may be given to the charity of donor’s choice.
