William Neese, Sr. Obituary

William A. Neese, Sr. of Spring Mills, passed unexpectedly from this life on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home.  He was 75.  Born March 7, 1946 in Bellefonte, Bill was a son of Henry and Carrie (Neese) Lingle.  On February 14, 1969, Bill married Evelyn J. Waite who preceded him in death on May 23, 2011.

Bill is survived by one daughter, Billie Jo Glasgow (Brian Lucas) of Spring Mills; two sons, William A. Neese, Jr. (Buffy) of Jersey Shore and Philip A. Neese (Brianna) of Spring Mills; four siblings, Margaret Royer, Helen Sweeley (Dave), Samuel “George” Neese (Betty) and David E. Neese (Audrey); six grandchildren, Brandon Glasgow (Amberly), Nathan Neese (Katie), Marissa Rogers (Josh), Morgan and Andrea Neese and, Colton Stover.  Also surviving are six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and Bill’s special companion, Penny Brower.  In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Katheryn Peese and Mildred S. Rowles.

Bill proudly served our country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was employed as a Fish Culturist at the Pa Fish Commission facility in Pleasant Gap, retiring in 2008 with 25 years of service.  Bill was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church where he loved singing gospel songs, as well as with the Covalt family at their concerts.  He was a member of the Nittany Antique Machinery Association where he enjoyed showing several of his favorite Farmall tractors and participated in the tractor pulls at the yearly show at Penns Cave.  Bill was a member of the American Legion Smith-Pletcher Post #779 at Centre Hall.  He also drove the Amish in the local community, enjoyed bowling, playing cards and putting together puzzles.  As busy as he stayed, if you couldn’t find him though……just go to the “Big Red Shed” where he would most likely be taking a nap.  In recent years you could find Bill in the “Yellow Banana” delivering mulch to various destinations in the valley.  He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 from 6-9 pm at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim.  The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Covalt officiating.  Bill will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery.  Contributions in his memory may be given to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Nittany Valley Antique Machinery Assn. c/o Jim Markle, 2113 Brushwood Drive, State College PA 16801.
