Beatrice M. (Haines) Huey

Beatrice M. (Haines) Huey, 83, of Madisonburg, passed away at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. She was born March 16, 1932 in Howard, a daughter of Mary (Timons) and Fountain James Haines. Beatrice attended school at Beech Creek then earned her GED later in life. She married Thomas Huey on June 13, 1947 and they had 6 children. Beatrice and Thomas worked their farm in Madisonburg until his death in 1967. Beatrice was left to raise their children and run the farm on her own.

Beatrice was employed at Penn State University, where she retired in 1984. Besides loving to spend time with her family, she also enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and going to the Grange Fair and the Antique Show.

In addition to her parents and husband Beatrice was preceded in death by 4 grandchildren and 3 brothers; Harry, Harold, and Floyd “Bope” Haines.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Tom (Peggy) Huey of Woodward, Glenn (Kathy) Huey of Spring Mills, James (Sallie) Huey of Spring Mills; 3 daughters, Mary (Randy) Rider of Madisonburg, Karen Kline of Coburn, Brenda (Glenn) Orndorf of Madisonburg; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and her sister Doad Confer of Howard.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00-3:30pm on Saturday, August 29 at Christ UCC, Madisonburg, followed by the funeral service at 3:30pm with Pastor Julie Holm officiating. Beatrice will be laid to rest at Christ UCC and Lutheran Cemetery, Madisonburg. Contributions in memory of Beatrice may be given to Christ UCC, 113 Madisonburg Pike, Madisonburg, PA 16852.
