Betty J. (Frazier) Benner, 89, of Centre Hall, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Centre Crest nursing home, Bellefonte.  A daughter of Charles and Ruth (Stover) Frazier, she was born on April 22, 1926, in Brush Valley. Betty married Boyd Stover in 1943 prior to his deployment overseas. When Boyd returned from the war, they raised four children as well as owned and operated the Stover’s Dairy Bar in Millheim from 1956 until 1962. Boyd passed in 1972. Betty married Richard L. Benner in 1978, and they enjoyed over 30 years together before his passing in September 2014.

Betty worked as a real estate agent for over 30 years in the State College area. She was a member of the Centre County Association of Realtors and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 444. Betty was a fantastic cook, always offering goodies to friends and family during visits and gatherings. She especially loved ice cream, Red Lobster and traveling to Hawaii and Florida. Betty enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat Society and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. Most of all, she loved life and her family.

Betty was the last living sibling of seventeen. Betty was preceded in death by seven sisters: Frances McMullin, Phyllis Packer, Sarah Nerhood, Catherine Spade, Evelyn Walker, Mae Harter, and Ruth Frazier; nine brothers: Charles, William, Elsworth, Sterile, John, Miles, Luther, Marshall and Russell; one daughter-in-law, Janice Stover; two grandchildren: Angela Jo Ream and Jessica Lynn Stover and one great grandson, Ryan Marchese.

Betty is survived by two sons: Gary “Jake” Stover of Millheim and Joe (Laurie) Stover of Pleasant Gap; two daughters: Connie Trauger of Millheim and Candace (Ronald) Ream of Aaronsburg; one step daughter LuAnn Benner of Spring Mills. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and twenty-two great and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 20, from 1-2 pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, followed by a service at 2 pm with Pastor Mark Messner officiating. At the convenience of the family, Betty will be laid to rest at Centre County Memorial Park in State College. Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to Centre Crest Auxiliary, 502 E.
